The MYGGBETT communicates using Matter over Thread rather than connecting directly to the property’s Wi-Fi network.

We generally prefer Thread, Zigbee, or Z-Wave for sensors at short-term rentals because these protocols are designed for low-power smart-home devices and keep unnecessary devices off the guest Wi-Fi network.

You will need a compatible Thread Border Router as part of your smart-home system, but once connected, the MYGGBETT has been responsive and reliable in our testing.

Standard AAA Battery

We also like that IKEA uses a standard AAA battery rather than a specialty coin-cell battery.

That may sound minor, but standardized batteries make maintenance much easier when you manage multiple devices or properties. AAA batteries are inexpensive, widely available, and easy to keep on hand for cleaners or maintenance staff.

Battery access itself could be a little easier, but it isn’t something you should need to deal with frequently.

Reliability

The MYGGBETT has performed extremely well in our testing.

Open and closed events report quickly, Thread connectivity has remained stable, and we haven’t experienced the intermittent disconnects that can make inexpensive sensors frustrating to use remotely.
