The Yale Assure Lock 2 is the perfect lock for your smart-home. It has great functionality, holds plenty of temporary and permanent access codes, and gives the user a more luxurious experience.
We highly recommend this lock with the keypad instead of the touch screen. The physical buttons are back-lit and high-end feeling, and we’ve seen the touch-screens get damaged by use and sunlight. We also recommend the backup key so you always have a way for your guests to get in. The keyless option also works well, there are terminals in the bottom of the outdoor keypad for a 9V battery to temporarily power the lock if the batteries are dead.
This lock wins our recommendation hands down because by choosing it you are future-proofing your smart lock. Yale is the only company which provides the smart modules, you have the ability to change the smart protocol it uses. We recommend the Z-wave option for increased battery life and security (and compatibility with external services like SmartThings). And we anticipate they will release a Matter/Thread enabled module in the future if you wanted to go that route.
