The Tapo DL-110 Smart Wi-Fi Door Lock boasts a lot of features and good build quality and at a very competitive price. We were excited to get our hands on this device and test it out.

The first impression we had when unboxing the device was very good – the build quality is good and we really like all the features of this lock. We like that the lock has a backup physical key option, which is critical for a short-term rental but a nice feature for any other use of the lock. Having it hidden behind the doorbell button is a neat design, and made it look nice and clean unless you need to access the keyhole. We did not test how the doorbell feature works.

After getting the lock added to the Tapo app, we tested it’s connection with SmartThings and Google Home. We were disappointed to learn that, with both of these popular services, you cannot program door codes to the lock. Door code management is only available via the Tapo app, and these external services do not support that feature. Given this limitation, we can’t recommend this device for use at a short-term rental property.

Hopefully they will add support for this, or Tapo will build a similar lock that will have support for Matter so it can connect into these services.
